Streets Are For People is glad to announce that we will be hosting regular Strong Towns conversations for the St. John’s and North-East Avalon region. We will be having bi-weekly meetings discussing public transit, urban planning, policy, advocacy and more. Please check the calendar below to dates and locations.
The mission of Strong Towns is closely aligned to what we want to do here at Streets Are For People. Their vision is to help inspire towns and cities to be better places, by reducing urban planning policies that detriment the community, and bolstering policies that benefit us all. This could be from discussing road safety, to zoning complexities and barriers to development, to seeing what areas of a municipality are really subsidizing the others.
Strong Towns was a major inspiration for starting Streets Are For People. Data analysis, urban planning, and engineering are core to our collective knowledge, and we hope we can harness the platform of Strong Towns to make the cities and towns of the North-East Avalon better places for everyone.
We will be try our best to cycle between different online and in person spaces to best accommodate as many people as possible. We hope you join us as we grow the local conversation.
